Born on October 26, 1990 in Hilo, Hawaii, Jasmine first picked up the violin at age three, beginning with the Suzuki method of ear-training and memorization. At age five it became apparent that Jasmine had a very natural ability to sing, her vocal quality inspired by musicals such as Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera. Attending the Seattle/Japan Suzuki Institute in Seattle at age ten drove her to further continue her violin education. In the seventh grade Jasmine also took up tap dancing. As she entered her Middle and High School years, she began performing in musicals and stage productions (Hilo High's "Chicago" and "Beauty and the Beast"), loving every minute, having enjoyed musicals since childhood. Jasmine also played the role of Ophelia in a local production of "Hamlet" and has appeared a couple of times as the Ghost of Christmas Past with the Community Players in "A Christmas Carol." She started learning how to improvise on the fiddle with the Ambassadors' singing group at Hilo High School, and has since developed her talent at jamming in many different styles with groups such as The Dave Seawater band and Aethyrus. Jasmine also plays classical violin in community and student orchestras. She performed in the pit for KDEN's production of "The Pirates of Penzance" "The Mikado" as well as UH Hilo's "Oklahoma" and HAAS's student production of "Les Miserables." She is also often part of the Kamuela Philharmonic and the UH orchestra. Although for a while Ms. Crowe was mainly recognized for her violin playing, she is just as talented with her voice. A self-taught singer, Jasmine loves to perform on stage. In October 2006 she played the "Star-to-Be" in the Fall musical "Annie" at the Palace Theater. Although Jasmine loves musical theater, singing and playing other styles of music is just as natural for her. Growing up with all kinds of musical influences she loves Broadway musicals, rock n' roll, celtic ballads, classical concertos, contemporary music, as well as pop, jazz, blue grass, new age, world, and even hard metal. She began to write songs at age 14, and has written over twenty since. Besides recording, engineering, arranging, and producing her own music at a local home studio affectionately named "Musically Sound Enterprises" (MSE Studios) currently Jasmine Miranda is attending the University of Hawaii at Hilo, taking Performing Arts classes to further expand her experience in the field. She also plays acoustic and electric guitar to accompany herself on the songs she writes, and is learning piano as well. One day Jasmine aspires to perform her music on tour. She hopes to continue recording her own music doing her own production work, and one day perform in Broadway musicals and in films.

Welcome to my spider web of creativity
I'm usually a ham in the spotlight, but sometimes I'm chic...
I just found out that Tunesquare disabled the download option this month and is no longer able to pay artists for free music downloads. Oh well. I thought it was a really great idea while it lasted.
I started working in a home studio in Hilo, Hawaii when I was 14. Right before then I'd gone through a harsh break-up with my first romantic relationship. I turned that heartbreak into several songs within a few weeks of becoming familiar with the studio environment. I never thought I could write a song and all of a sudden a whole bunch of inspiration and creativity started flowing through me! Since then I've written over 35 songs.
"Just Another Crush" was one of my first recording experiences, released as single to give me insight into what goes into production and the overall recording process. (I'm in the process of re-recording it to include on my full album.) Music flows through my veins; I eat, sleep, and dream music (sometimes at the most inconvenient times, haha) - so as soon as I could, in my junior year of High School I got my GED so that I could focus on and follow my music career. It's been over two years and I've been working in the studio daily on my first album, doing all of my tracking, editing, and production work using state-of-the-art programs including Pro-Tools, Giga-Studio, Melodyne, Sibelius, and Final Cut Pro for video editing. Some of the plug-ins I use in Pro-Tools include BFD drums and Ivory.
Because I had so much influence from Broadway musicals when I was younger, my first album has been (and is) quite a learning experience - the songs are built around irregular time signatures throughout, following and supporting the vocals. Playing violin my whole life, the way I viewed music and wrote songs was very different than writing from a background using chordal instruments such as guitar or piano. I picked up guitar at age 16 and now my writing structure is quite different and the new material is influenced by rock/pop and folk/singer-songwriter styles. My new songs are already ready to record and compile into a second album although at the moment I am still focusing on completing my first album while simultaneously and continuously developing my new songs with a live band playing live shows. I currently have a 3-piece band: Me on vox/electric or acoustic guitar, Athonwy on bass, and Dave Seawater drums. I'd post more of my new stuff online more often, but I'm not yet ready to distribute it over the internet until I've completed (or am near completion of) the official recordings for reasons of copyrighting. I'll be happy to play them live for you, though. :)
As for my fiddle, I play with several different bands in many different styles. I have the ability to sit-in with a band I've never heard before and play violin with them, fitting in with their style/groove/mood, complementing their songs, and most importantly always (emphasis on always) supporting the vocals. Currently I play in a rock'n'roll band playing rock fiddle (my favorite!) on an electric Steinberg viola/violin. :)
Hope that gives you a better overall picture of me!
